Hispanic URM question
« on: May 14, 2007, 01:07:29 PM »
Does a person qualify for URM status just by being hispanic? Or do you have to be of a certain nationality (eg: Mexican or Puerto Rican)? Would Cubans be URMs? Personally, I would think we are ORMs judging from all the Cuban lawyers I see here in Miami.

You are a URM just by being hispanic. Regradless of how many cuban lawyers there are in Miami, they are still underrepresented in America as a whole. Most schools don't ask you to identify which country of orgin you came from, although I have seen Puerto Rican and Mexican- american
