at least she was pretty honest rather than trying to string him along.

True. I'll give her that.

I would take a seat in the PT program at this point....Good lord, are they taking anyone off of the waiting list?  That letter was a tad bit harsh...

I agree, but I also agree that it's nice that she was honest. I bet there has been a lot of pow-wowing among admissions' directors this year, maybe that's why she expects that they won't have open seats. Or maybe they admit full-time waitlisters before part-timers - could be just a numbers thing.

Right - I wonder if that letter is strictly speaking to PT concerns.  I am sure they've had more than one request from a PT admit to be bumped to FT status.

Has anyone heard anything from GW? I've called 3 times in the last two weeks and they won't tell me anything, other than they are going to go to the wait list next week.

The final deposit is due today. They're currently over-enrolled (as in they're above the number of deposits they usually have at this point in the cycle), so there likely won't be a whole lot of movement on the wait list this year, unfortunately.

A PT slot opened up, because I didn't deposit.

It disturbs me that there are people who withdraw by default (i.e., not placing deposits).  Why don't these people actively/formally withdraw if they've already decided, rather than wait for the deposit date to pass?  There are people waiting anxiously waiting for slots to open up, and withdrawing by default delays the process - does it take much of an effort to write a short e-mail/letter or call to withdraw?

I'll answer that. I did what was in my best interest. I live in DC and I wanted to keep a DC option open as long as possible just in case something happened here in town (e.g. I suddenly fell madly in love, I was named secretary of state, etc). None of these things were very likely, but I paid for the right to hang on until June 15 and that's what I did.

Now I feel your frustration with waiting, but I don't think any of us should EVER expect others to act contrary to their own best interest. Best of luck with GW!
