Good idea 1Ls - having a party celebrating the end of finals before finals are over is very smart.

*puts coat back in closet*

*steps back into room*

Does any 2L have reassuring words about Elements?  After two weeks of taking practice exams, I feel like I've learned nothing, and that it's largely an aptitude test, anyway.  Shame on me for trying to go beyond words of wisdom from 2Ls.

Yes.

Just go in, read carefully, use the Strauss checklist (but judiciously - don't just throw unrelated stuff in to try and gain points).  It isn't a typing test, so think carefully and don't word vomit.

And think of it this way - no other law school exam looks like Elements, so either relish that brief shining moment (if you like that sort of thing) or just grin and bear it knowing this is 7.5% of your 1L grades and something you will never have to suffer through again (if you don't).

It sounds so reasonable when you say it.

You make writing an Elements exam sound pretty inspiring. I don't suppose you can inspire me to study for Corporations, while you're dishing out words of wisdom?

Also, this policy question... Any ideas on what it will be about? Should I read "The Company"?

I hacked into Henderson's secret files... the policy Q is:

The market is always right. Discuss the obvious truthfulness of this statement. YWIA!

I'm pretty scared for corps.  I just finished "outlining" which was basically me reading his slides and deciding which ones to copy and paste into a Word document.  Now I'm looking at some exams and they might as well be in another language.

that is exactly how i feel. Henderson's email didn't exactly ease my anxiety. Did anyone read the Company?

Oh dear lord I can't handle looking at the corporations exams online.

Seriously?  Did I learn any of this?

I wasn't planning at looking at them for awhile, but your post made me look... and even then I only looked at one exam and one student answer... and I'm going to stop right there. :(

There really should be two Corps exams. One for people with business training/background and one for the rest of us. Check the answer to Section III in the first student answer for the 2007 exam. Are you serious? I probably couldn't write that even if we had a week to take the exam. There's no way we learned that sort of stuff in class... the background knowledge battle is one I've already lost.

Blurg.

edit: The second student answer mentions a German business concept known as "Interessengemeinschaften"... Fantastic.
"I'm a genius, but I'm a misunderstood genius."
"What's misunderstood about you?"
"Nobody thinks I'm a genius."

"A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day."

For the 1Ls: don't pay attention to all of this. This isn't exam anxiety, this is exam annoyance.

I'm annoyed I have to take this exam, learn this material, etc.

I'm sure that didn't come from an LLM student... I sure am glad they get extra time to take the exam, that continues to seem fair.

Are any of you in admin?  I can't remember who is in admin, and I have a question...

Just in case - 2007 Gersen exam, question II (about the change in the Executive Order) - is that type of question ANYTHING we covered in Masur's class?  Or should I expect something like that on the exam and be freaking out that I really learned nothing?

There are three classes of LLM student: (1) hot shots from Bratislava who have never studied American law before (ADVANTAGE: YOU), (2) hot shots paid by their foreign firms to take a year-long vacation in America (ADVANTAGE: YOU), and (3) domestic students who got their JD's from an school that allows you to take exams in crayon thus needing some resume prestige (ADVANTAGE: YOU).

Seriously, ask yourself: what caliber of student waits until their 4th year of law school to take corporations?
