I'll be there, too, and just started looking for places to live. Shadyside seems to be place for grad students.

The cost of living there is awesome. I just got a 1 br. in Shadyside for 620 (all utilities included). Coming for NJ, that was a huge shock. Granted the place is small, and it's 1.5 miles from the school, but it's across from a beautiful neighborhood (and Walnut Street, in case I ever have money to shop with :-D ). It feels safe, and it's clean...so I'm happy.

I just got in via the waitlist.

does that mean I don't owe them a deposit?

I'm seriously considering it at this point-- I was set on going to Oregon, and I'm still waiting on Indiana Bloomington.

No they will send you your acceptance in the mail and your deposit date will be sometime in the near future.  I got accepted off the waitlist too and my deposit is $500 due by the 11th.
