Law School called the recommender?

One of the schools my friend applied to called one of her professors to thank him for the recommendation he wrote for her. They commented on how well stated and glowing his letter was.

Has anyone heard of this before? Can she expect to get an acceptance soon?

Well, it's not unexpected. LSDAS generic form states that it's possible to receive a call, and Ivey in her book says that sometimes admission officers call to check on some facts.

Could be a discreet attempt to verify the glowing-ness of the recommendation (does the recommender verbally blush, or does he say "Hey, I didn't write that!").

Actually, she just told me hat  they actually sent him a letter, instead of calling. From what I understand they didn't question the authenticity of the LOR at all.
