Damn these schools - they should have admitted more 1Ls instead, as opposed to making otherwise qualified candidates jump through hoops again in order to attend.

Their gaming US News. If they take more 1Ls, then it is harder to take the same quality of student. Transfers don't count for USNews, so you can take those students who had a lower-than-median LSAT or GPA and it doesn't hurt... plus, you get a year of grades to see how well they actually WILL perform in law school.

Well, I guess it isn't "gaming," but rather than take a chance on lower-numbers people, they create places for them in 2L... Your LSAT and GPA can predict success, but sometimes they're wrong -- they can take the best students from lower-ranked schools and make their own student body better.

If they take a chance on a kid with below-25th percentile numbers, they risk that kid not cutting it and they'll take the US News hit over it...

They also make room for the Yale/Columbia/wherever people who would've been admitted anyway, and decide that they'd rather be in Boston...

GULC out of the t14s you have listed.  the place is huge, and it seems that a good amount of ppl transfer out for higher t14s.

Okay, so it is easier to visit a school rather than transfer. How about if you visit a school for the 2l year, and then attempt to transfer in your 3rd year? Is it possible?

No.  You can only apply as a transfer student at the end of 1L.  Students that want to do a semester or year during 3L at a new school are visiting students.  If you decide during 2L that you want to transfer you're SOL unless you decide to be a visiting student, which is different.

I know this is a dumb question, but outside particular courses what are the advantages of visiting a school for one year?
