the Dallas legal market is still pretty small.

Pretty small compared too...?

I won't post that kind of info on this thread . . .kind of personal.

If you don't mind me asking, how was your class rank, what are your feelings about that rank and what sort of job do you have lined up?

I was referring to who you know and networking-- people think that places like Dallas are so big that they don't necessarily have to be as careful.  If they mess up with one attorney or judge, they might be able to get to know someone else to make up for it. WRONG!! You will be surprised who knows who.  You should always be on your game when around other attorneys, no matter who they are--judges, etc. Recommendations from well respected attorneys and judges will take you far.

Hey smujd2007 (if you're still around)

I know you mentioned not talking about personal info and all, but what about employment prospects for your class in general? Do most people seem content with the job they have lined up?

You will find out which section you belong to in a few weeks. They don't want to create the sections until they know who all is going to make the distribution fair (i.e. they dont want to have one section with more high LSATs or GPAs than the other one).

The class is mixed.  About half have jobs, half don't. Those who do, of course, are happy . . . they can start paying back student loans!

It doesn't really follow any set thing  . . .its not just grades, or just experience  . . . and in some cases it is more like who likes you and who doesn't no matter what grades are. People get big firm offers without the best grades if they are heavy in extracurriculars (mock trial, moot court) and network well.  Which is why number 4 of the 5 things that I posted as advice are so important.

The best thing that you can do is get there and do the best that you can in whatever you do--and network.

Good info, thanks.  :)

BTW I think I saw your picture on the wall in Storey Hall today, based on your avatar.  :)  They have the '07 class up there.

I guess I shouldn't be, but I am surprised how dead LSN and these forums have gotten in May.  I think I literally got in at the very last moment  :o

Hopefully all of you are set up wherever you're going and are content.
