Yeah, but if you're looking at parking a car in a major city + insurance (which will be quite a bit higher in NYC, I'd think) + tax will probably balance out that 6 - 8k...and getting rid of the car will get rid of one last headache involved with living in NYC.

Sell it???

way upside down on the loan at this point - I would probably need to come up w/ about 6 - 8K to get out from under it. I rolled another car that I got screwed on into it - the worst economic decision of my life.

If you move to the city year round there is no need for  car whatsoever.  Spend half the money it would cost to park in your building on a MetroCard, and get unlimited transportation and more limited headaches.
