Yep, did you feel that the language they used in the e-mail was particularly delicate?  This kind of gives me hope...but more anxiety.

The e-mail says that they are "overcommitted" with their offers of admission...that doesn't sound too promising. :/

yea, but they also said "However, the committee was highly impressed with your credentials and is hoping to be able to extend you an offer of admission in the near future...We do anticipate taking candidates from the wait list this year"

though I'm not counting on anything

I think the "really impressed with your credentials" bit was just a way to let us down easy.  - WL for me as well
