Off Campus Housing?

Off Campus Housing?

Hi all,

I am sure this has been asked before, but as I pick my school, I am wondering. One place gave me 12k a year so that leaves me with about 12k that needs to be covered by loans. I will probably get the Stafford loans as I am very high need, EFC of 0, etc.

My school does not have on campus housing. Can the extra money in the Stafford loans (if there is any) cover the costs of my apartment? If not, can a GradPlus loan do so? Or am I stuck going to a private lender and having to make payments while I am in school (almost impossible). I don't mind having interest add up while I am in school. I might try to pay the interest bills as they come to offset it, but I would not like to have a required bill when I can't work. How does off campus housing and financing work?

cost of living is factored into your cost of attendance, which your loans will be based on.  If sub/unsub govt loans dont cover the total, then you move to GradPlus to make up the difference.
