Who wants to read my LOR and make comments?
« on: September 14, 2004, 02:47:35 PM »
Anyone willing to read one of my LOR?  It is from the partner with which I work.  I want to know if it is specific enough, or too generic.  Thanks.

I agree, either post it here or send it away to a few individuals if you wish to keep it off the web

nontrad1@hotmail.com

I'll take a look at it if you want.

That's really good.  Sounds specific enough.

Thanks guys!  That makes me feel so much better.  I've been out of school alomst 10 yrs and my UGPA is only a 2.97.  My practice LSAT scores have sucked, ranging in the low 150's. Even though most people on this board seem to think LOR have no impact whatsoever on admissions, I am hoping they help me, even if it is minimal.

Obviously, I am not aiming for a top school.  I would be happy with any Tier 3 or Tier 4 in my area.  I think my only real shots are at Catholic Univ. and Howard Univ, however, I am applying to all the DC schools that offer part-time.

Um, don't freak out, but if I were you, I would edit out the text of the letter now that you have some critiques.  Trust me, you don't want stuff like this out on the internet no matter how trivial and non-offensive you think it is, and no matter how well you think you've anonymized.  First hand experience.

I liked every single word except this:

I hired S as an assistant to Shaw Pittman’s trademark practice (for which I am the managing partner in the Tysons Corner office)

And the sign said "Long-haired freaky people need not apply" So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why. He said "You look like a fine outstanding young man, I think you'll do.  So I took off my hat, I said "Imagine that. Huh! Me workin' for you!"Sign, sign, everywhere a sign..
