ok, i won't get into the politically incorrect version of why i have given up hope of ever getting Mia back. basically, a couple of my neighbors seem to think that kind of doggie (small to medium tan chihuahua mix) ends up 'lost' in the neighborhood frequently never to return and they think it's probably because the guys working new construction in the area take them home.
so i am looking for a new best friend.
i've always wanted a chocolate lab, so i am wanting to find a female chocolate lab or lab mix. akc papers aren't necessary at all, i'd actually prefer to save one from a shelter. a mix would be fine if it was a smaller breed mix (not a lab/great dane mix).
i mainly looked at petfinder and craigslist in my zip (76116) so far.
here are the early contenders:

ZENA info link:http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=8092264
frannie is a mix and is a great weight at 45-50 pounds, but she is 4-5 yrs old. larger dogs don't live as long as smaller breeds, so that's a big negative in adopting an older larger dog.
zena is about 2 and it says she is very friendly and lovable. she probably won't last long before she's adopted.
isabella seems like a deep chocolate and is a very pretty dog, and i love that name and wouldn't change it.
asia is about 2 hrs away, but really looks the best from the pics. absolutely beautiful.
