How to prepare?
« on: March 25, 2007, 11:21:57 AM »
Is there any way that I can get a handle on what the first year course load will be like? Also, I know it's a bit late, but what's the best summer work that I could find now for law?

I plan on doing a little light reading over the summer about law school related stuff, but otherwise everything I've heard points to it being a better use of your time to enjoy your last free summer.

I've heard that Law School Confidential is a great portrait of what to expect throughout law school (from both current and past law students at a variety of schools).  As such, I plan on giving that a read this summer.

If you have the option, see if you can volunteer with a legal-services type organization. You probably have a better chance of getting in by being there and not getting paid than by trying to get anything paid at this point.

If you do get such an opportunity, make the most of it. Try to learn. Ask qustions. Volunteer. All that kind of stuff that makes for good reference and resume fodder.
