Pre 1L summer job

Pre 1L summer job
« on: March 12, 2007, 01:38:10 PM »
I'm soon to be a liberal arts grad.  Which basically means I have few applicable skills.  Any advice on getting a good (i.e. non-restaurant related) job before I'm going off to school in august?  Non-paying internships are also out and I can't seem to find a good paying one.

campus bookstores are usually hiring.  summer is when all the book shipments come in and help is needed.

I think I'm going to be a nanny this summer.  I'm an accounting major and it's really easy to find internships but being a nanny pays comparably and is far less stressful.

I'll probably be teaching Kaplan LSAT.  I hear it pays at least 15/hour.

My audition: How to Prepare For and Participate in a Gator Football Game.

I used to teach SAT Prep for The Princeton Review for $18/hr.  I'd be shocked if Kaplan LSAT paid less than $25/hr!

I imagine Kaplan teachers' pay is dependent on location.  I'm low-balling it since I'll be working in Gainesville, FL.

You could register with a temp agency.  I did that last year and got a job within 48 hours.  You can tell them how long you want to work and they'll try to match you up with a place that only needs you for that amount of time.  They might send you to a different place every few days, but you always have the right to refuse a job for any reason.  They'll just call you a couple of days later with a new offer.
