I get excited about things and then go read all the books I can find on the subject. So I've done a bit of "prep" reading, here's my thoughts on the books I've read.

Law School Confidential--A good balanced overview. Has a chapter on getting in and chapters on each year of law school. Covers study techniques, recommended supplements, job search etc. I recommend it.

<snip>

Getting to Maybe--I haven't read it but it seems to be highly recommended. It covers how to take a law school exam. Another likely summer read.

I've read both of these and found them to be entertaining as well as highly informative.  Also (and this will probably sound weird or something) I purchased some of the "Sum and Substance" CDs (used) on eBay--Con Law, Civ Pro, Property and Torts (1L topics).  I like to listen to them in my truck on the way to my MPA classes in Akron.  Call me strange (or call me Ishmael), but I really like the Con Law CD--I'd like it even if I wasn't going to law school this fall.

I like reading about Administrative law, too, but that's another story...   :D

That is just sick, you need help.  :P

I wrote that just for you, Matthies, since I recall reading your "countdown posts" while you were in Admin Law class.   ;)

Really, I do like it.  Had just a taste of it during my Fall '06 Legal Foundations of Public Administration class.  And since I work in the public sector I'm a little familiar with agencies, rule-making, hearings, civil service regulations, at-will employment, etc.

But...you're right--I'm sick and need help.  Luckily, I can get all the help I need from a 12-ounce, long-neck bottle.   ;D

The Torts one was fun. Finz's accent & style cracked me up.

That is a good one.  Listen to the Con Law series with Mary Cheh--excellent.  She has a dry sense of humor--I'm guessing a lot of law profs do.

And I think she won a seat on the Washington, DC council during the 2006 general election.

Con law isn't interesting to me, unfortunately.

Me either, its the most overated class in law school I think.

God, I must be weird.   :-[   Judicial review, standing, the Commerce Clause, equal protection of the laws, procedural and substantive due process...how can anyone NOT get excited about this stuff?   ;)

but hey, as long as it's not econ, you're doing okay.

I'm doing OK, and I was an economics major.   ;)

(Granted, I'm not using my degree, but I'm still doing OK.)
