leiter is notorious for scorning the US News & World Report rankings (with good reason, I suspect...read the Becker-Posner blog today for some examples). Thus, he doesn't buy into the whole "T14" designation - which he's also mentioned on his blog. When it comes down to it, there's a gradient of prestige among schools, and no clear cut-off (or accurate ranking system) that definitively separates one school from the ones above it.So while Leiter might be somewhat biased, his objections to relying on USNWR rankings seem sound to me.
