Wait.....Case has a seat deposit deadline of 4/2???
They need to start sending out some damn decisions already!
as someone who is at case undergrad, i implore you to rethink your decision on attending. reallllllly do. i mean i'm sure law school's a little different, but i don't think you have any idea what you might be getting yourself into. if you have any questions, i'm happy to answer.
What is so bad about it? Not that the answer has any possible relevance for me, but the way you've written this makes me awfully curious.
well a few people messaged me about this since they were considering the school, so this is what i sent them:
Negatives
-cleveland is a DUMP, a dying city.
-the weather is miserable. you'd expect that weather wouldn't make much of a difference, but honestly i think people are regularly depressed all winter. it's not the amount of snow; it's the grayness and biting cold.
-parking is ridiculously expensive, 560 for the year
-social life is nil, absolutely NIL. don't expect much in the way of satisfying student activities. social life revolves around video games and alcoholism.
-campus is near the ghetto
-tuition (already too high) is rising because the school's in major debt
-you reallllllly need a car, public transportation is spotty and scary and not much is nearby
-suitcase school (people head home on the weekends)
Positives *obviously i can't say much about the law school academics so i'll focus on general stuff
-they give out a lot of scholarship money
-the law school building is definitely in good shape
-the entire school is very wired, you could sit in the middle of the field and still get a signal
-DC++, the sharing network. you can download anything. man am i going to miss this
-24 hour library access, although maybe a lot of schools have this? nice library surroundings too.
-diverse student population, although they tend to be cliquey. lots of culture though, can't deny i liked this.
-it's in the middle of a big arts area--cleveland orchestra at severance hall which is one of the best in the world, art museum, history museum, lots of others. question is, will you REALLY go see these all that often?
-you can find cheap apartments relatively easily (if not cheap parking)
while there are people at Case who enjoy their experience, i know that more hate it. in fact, i think that the student body is more united by university-hate than anything else.
DISCLAIMER: grad schools are always a little different than undergrad, so maybe law school at Case is just wonderful. i don't believe it, but who knows. i don't know any law students here or i'd quote their experience.
