Hastings has great reach, but I'm not quite certain exactly how great that reach is, particularly in that competitive market (Hastings = most grads = greatest alumni base in the area).

Really Loyola is only top 10% for jobs in SoCal?  Although is it easier relatively speaking to get top 10% at Loyola, compared to Hastings where the curve is brutal?  I'm wondering if I should make a play for Hastings to get off the waitlist.

No, that's not true at all.  What the poster was saying is that the top 10% at Loyola equates roughly to the top third at Hastings.  Most (if not all) Loyola grads will get "jobs".

Oooooh much better ok thanks for clearing that up.  Yeah I'm making an 88 page worksheet now, on firms in LA, and so far Loyola has been right up there with Harvard, Yale, UCLA etc. as far as OCI's.  So I'm happy.  If anyone wants a copy of it when I'm finished let me know.  I'll take requests later when it's all done.

Personally, I think that Hastings has an edge over Loyola in socal.  Hastings has by far the better reputation, and there are plenty of LA based firms that recruit at Hastings.  However, I think that Loyola, because it is such a regional school, has more alumni in LA.  But this may only go so far.  The point is, in a close call like this, I would suggest going to the better school that recruits deeper in the class.  Clearly that school is Hastings.  I am thinking about moving back to LA after graduation (where I'm from) and I am not worried at all.  Probably 1/4-1/3 of the class at Hastings is from LA. 

That said, Loyola is a respectable school in LA.  However, from what I hear they have a stricter grading curve than Hastings, and a fairly low bar passage rate.
