Oscars--Anyone watching?
« on: February 25, 2007, 08:53:53 PM »
I'm surprised there's a not a thread on this already...Anyone watching? I guess there's not much to talk about yet except for the way people looked, which doesn't particularly interest me...or perhaps Ellen hosting--I personally think she's been sucking so far.

In any case, sound off with random thoughts, comments, etc.

Out of those that have been nominated, I've watched Children of Men, the Departed, Pursuit of Happyness, and Blood Diamond. I've really been wanting to watch The Last King of Scotland but haven't had a chance yet.

I like watching the Oscars. And I think it's fun to see what everyone is wearing. AND I think Ellen is funny.

*shrug*  I guess I'm just simple like that.

I'm watching and doing very poorly in my office pool. Alan Arkin totally screwed me up. That last bit with Gore was just dumb, but I'm liking Ellen.

how many hippies can you fit in one room?

answer: how big is the kodak theater?

For best supporting actor? Who were you going for--Wahlberg? I really wanted the dude from Blood Diamond to get get it.

I like Ellen, but the ten minutes they've spent on global warming so far is a bit much.

Still a wild card to see who will win best pic!

The appropriateness of Perpetua would probably depend on the tone of the writing.  When I used it, I (half playfully) thought the extra space made the words sort of resonate.

(we'll take this to another thread someday.)

I've already posted my comments on this.  Unfortunately I am not allowed to post any further political-related comments or else I'll end up with another reading assignment from Gengis, and I can only handle so much.

You're allowed to debate this one.  My fiat.

Hah, OK.  You name the time and place.

I didn't like Children of Men that much.  Eddie Murphy I do think should have won Best Supporting.
