« on: March 03, 2004, 07:16:04 PM »
Just accepted to USF, though not my first choice. Can anyone give me any insight to the overall reputation of USF and what kind of qulity program they have?

I love USF.  I think the reputation in San Fran. is less favorable than Boalt and Hastings, but I think it is still a really interesting school.  it's Jesuit identity makes it really strong in social justice issues, and I think they have a cozy, personal approach that is really lacking.  I think you'd be likely to be happy there.

Thanks for the feedback.  I've been living in the Bay area for some years and I love it here.  Def a plus.   The other day I visited both Hastings and USF on the same day and did notice the difference in opportunities posted on their boards afforded to Hastings students such as clerkships, externships, and summer positions.  It seemed like a world of difference unless I was missing something at USF.  Is this a concern at all?

what were your numbers if you don't mind me asking?
--my numbers were 156/3.46 (science) and very strong recs.

are you talking to me, suzyd?  162/168 split, 3.78 gpa.
they gave me a hefty dean's scholarship, too, so i guess that contributes to my rosy glow about it.

Habeus:

surprised you got waitlisted with a 161, prob has more to do with your UGPA.  I've been waitlisted at a handful now so i know what it feels like and rejected to Hastings (My #1) this week.  Hang in there, hopefully you applied to other places as well?

yeah, but being wait-listed at usf doesn't make me feel any more optimistic about my chances at davis or hastings (and i didn't feel that great before...).

so far i'm in at miami, mcgeorge and nova southeastern. still waiting on davis, hastings, santa clara, loyola, southwestern and san diego.

at this point, though, i'm not very hopeful about those other schools.
