ITT We Post Financial Aid Offers We Recieve
« on: February 13, 2007, 09:34:35 AM »
I thought it might be a good idea to post the financial aid offers we recieve in case people want to know what's going on with their schools and if they could bargain for more money.

I've only got one so far but hopefully the list will grow-

BU:
$8,500 Subsidized loans
$12,500 Unsubsidized loans
No grants / scholarships

Nope on the Northwestern front.  I got in PT for Georgetown so I'm not eligible for anything other than loans.

I thought that the annual limit for for stafford loans is $20,500 for this coming year (combined subsidized and unsubsidized).  Am I completely crazy?  I'm really hoping that one of your numbers was just mistyped as I was so happy that I'd figured out the total.

EDIT - oh, and to add something, I got an award letter from W&M with $8,500 in subsidized and 12,000 in unsubsidized loans along with their non-resident waiver.  Problem is, I withdrew from their school two weeks ago!  Glad to see offers are starting to come in though.

The loans you're eligible for include the federal stafford ones, right? This is probably a stupid question but I'm asking anyhow. I think my head would explode if I had to borrow 100% of my law school money from private lenders (since may very well end attending a PT program).

Yes.  Thats right.

Yes there's a typo in my BU award -- it should be 12,000 unsubsidised.  I got the same award from Cornell, too.

I just got my first financial aid offer from Harvard.

~$27,000 in scholarships
~$30,000 in loans (mix of perkins, stafford, etc.)

Very excited about the offer, but it's going to make my decision even harder!
