I was not, never have been, and never will be a fratboy.

The American Idol thread reminded me of a thought I had frequently during my admissions cycle: D*mn this is just like sorority rush!

The panicked rushees, the applicants who have been studying and waiting and preparing their whole lives for this v. the applicants who just decided to try it out, the top houses, the reputation obession..i could go on and on. I could even match houses' reps to school' reps I think...

In memoriam of your favorite sorority girl and mine, dc girl, let's make comparisions between the Law School Application Cycle and Rush Week.

Pref Night = ASW

At least at my school, if you invited a girl to pref you were bound to "if you rank us first, we promise you a bid".  So you had to try and seduce them that you were the best sorority around before they left to go rank their top 3 sororities.

One difference though...no alcohol at rush.  From what I hear, there's definitely alcohol at an ASW.

Yes, pref is definetly ASW.  Make everything look beautiful.  Be on your best behavior.  Yeah, totally.

It's difficult for me to compare 'cause there's only 2 sororities at my school.

Law Apps = stressful, lots of time sitting in front of a computer screen typing
frat rush = pig picking, free keg beer, and rush concerts

i enjoyed rushing waaaaaaay more than I enjoyed writing my damn law apps

the application process is more like pledging than rush.

I really hope adcoms don't make decisions the way frats do on bid night...

ASW - They better not line us up in the basement...

Silly monkey, It's not Hell Week, it's Hell 1L Year.

He1l (that's H-E-one-L if you can't tell)

I better use my UG strategy - get in close with the 3Ls and try and get a copy of the beer room key as soon as possible.
