How do you tie a snake to a tree?

I wondered that too. But then I chose to focus on the massive python aspect rather than the tree tying

Well, because of you that aspect was already taken, so I had to find something else.

I mean, snakes slither, that's their thing, wouldn't they just slither out of the ropes tying them to the tree?

Or maybe eat the tree?

Maybe they didn't use a rope, maybe they just tied the snake in a knot.

In which case the reporter should have said, "tied the snake around the tree."

Imagining the snake in a knot is kind of funny. Can you make a snake into a bow?

If you can tie ears in a bow, I would imagine you can tie a snake in a bow

(Do your ears hang low, do they wobble to and fro, can you tie them in a knot, can you tie them in a bow?)

Good point.
