Nobody built a fort around me this morning.

I was tired this morning after staying up too late talking to the bf after having a stupid argument (about bachelor parties of all things, like that's gonna be any time soon).

Tell him yes to the strippers but no to the dancing bear; problem solved.

Well, I told him yes to strip club but no to private strippers at hotel/house (cause you really have no control over what happens).  He said in that case he might as well not have one because apparently "nobody" goes to a strip club for their bp.  I said he should respect my "boundaries".  He said I'm not supposed to approve.  I said so I should just look the other way like some 50s housewife?  Yeah, we haven't resolved that one.

Tell him he can have a burlesque dancer pop out of the cake at the hotel.

Take some burlesque dancing lessons and pop out of the cake yourself.

Do you find that sometimes it's tough being a modern feminist?

Good news, bad news or neither, Zamora?

An offer was made, but it was half of my asking price. HALF!

I was so upset I couldn't even sleep on Wednesday night.

Maybe they'll bring their offer up, we'll see.

Yes; the line between exploitation of and freedom for women is very thin and kind of blurry.

Exactly.  I mean, am I antifeminist for not wanting naked women all over my SO or profeminist for setting my boundaries?  Am I antifeminist if I instead turn a blind eye and say boys will be boys or am I 'progressive'?

That's just one issue, but it plays out that way in many different issues.

Coop, wanna offer a male perspective?

Me too because I particularly wanted her to go to this person. Last night I called and told her, "Look, that's just too low. My bottom line price is __. If you want to do some up front and then make payments later, that would be fine with me, but I can't take less than that."

I have someone coming to see her tomorrow, maybe that will work out.

It's a very frustrating process.

I can imagine.  You want to make sure that she goes to a good home, but at the same time there are financial realities that you just can't ignore.  ::Fingers crossed::

I don't know.  A Bachelor Party is sort of a right of passage (and fighting about it now seems kinda silly, IMHO, but that's just me...).   I've had two friends get married and have very tame bachelor parties; both were pretty religious guys, so that wasn't a surprise.  Another friend, we just went to Vegas and wound up going to a strip club, but that too was pretty tame.  Unless you go to a pretty dodgy strip club, nothing horrible is going to happen.  Another friend, we went to an indian casino in CT and hired strippers to a room.  Again, there's a bunch of guys there, so it's not like anyone was having sex or anything.  In many ways it was probably more tame than the strip club, honestly.

I think, if you're willing to get married to someone, you've gotta trust them to keep somewhat well behaved (and assume there are going to be some shenanigans, but who cares?).  At the end of the day, it's one night...  if you're offended that some sleezy chick is going to have her unmentionables in his face or her knee in his groin, and that's a show stopper, then that's a show stopper, but ...  I don't think it's anything to be afraid of of threatened by.  Let him enjoy himself; whatever you imagine in your head will be far worse than what really happens, don't ask questions, and drop it and live happily ever after.

But of course that's the guy's perspective.  And he damn well better be willing to let you do the same, though somehow I can't imagine some dude's male private part in your face is nearly as exciting for you.

I definitely trust him.  It's his friends I don't trust  :P.  I have absolutely no problem with him going to a strip club.  Hell, I'd go with him.  But I'd prefer not to have a stripper in a private house.  To me that seems fairly reasonable, but to each their own.  It's not an issue of feeling threatened (I don't) but of personal preference.  If he had an opinion on my behaviour I'd certainly listen to it and respect it (though not necessarily agree).  And yes, this is all highly academic at this point, which is why we moved on to other stuff.  I've been trolling various feminist-leaning message boards that have given me all sorts of ideas!  :D

Whenever I hear strippers, bachelor party and hotel room I think of that movie "Very Bad Things."

They accidentally kill a stripper, woops.

Is it a good movie or awesomely bad.  The title makes it sound awesomely bad.  There was a CSI episode about a guy killer a stripper/hooker because he found out she was a man.

It was an ok movie. Cameron Diaz is the bride/wife.

Anyway, I'm sure no one will die at the bachelor party. I wouldn't worry about it too much, your guy seems like a good guy; he wouldn't do anything dumb.

I'm sure it would be fine.  I was ready for a good argument though.  We don't argue enough.  :D

So it's score release day, will LSD crash?

Yep.  I saw one of my coworkers who took the June LSAT refreshing the LSAT section of lsd today and thought to myself, "Whoa, I didn't realize she read these boards.  *&^%."

And you have your picture up and everything!

I get nervous on LSAT score release day.

I don't know why.

Afraid of not being on LSD for a few hours?
