Does the thought of me in town in two weeks perk you right back up?

Yes!

I'm utterly clueless and I need some help.

For some reason, I arranged to meet with a law firm partner on the 5th floor of my office building.  I sent him an impulsive e-mail about being an incoming 1L and wanting to hear a little about his work as a litigator representing trade unions.  But.  But.  I have no idea what to say to him now!   :(

Oh, man.  So how do I dig myself out of this capricious networking opportunity?

Wow.  I didn't think that'd actually work.

You're asking that . . . here?  Really?  Umm, ask him about his firm and how he got into that work.  Or something.

It will be good practice. Just go talk to him. Seriously. Just treat it like coffee with a friend of your parents, or something. Ask him questions about what he does. Let him do the talking.

What are some sample questions?  I don't want to seem like I have no idea what "no trade" collective bargaining is.

Goalie, are you coming to the restaurant with Mu and I?  The one with the awesome drinks and the no reservations?  (Beretta?)

But you don't.  And that's ok.  Just ask how it works.  You can probably divine appropriate leading questions from the context of the conversation.
