guns are for pussies.

This is where I want this thread to go.

Would you say gun owners are compensating?

Guns are for pussies I'm not from Philly but some say I'm a blunt
That's just the way I am and no I'm not going to front

but yeah, guns are pretty much unnecessary

I assume you're just talking about guns with civilians in normal, everyday American society?

Thanks for sharing your opinion.  You obviously live in Mayberry or something.. So, if someone breaks into your home you'll give him what he wants, right?  What if it's someone on crack who doesn't care about shooting you or anyone else?  Best of luck keeping yourself and your family safe at night.

yes. I think eventually, we could move to a society like Britain, where the cops don't even carry guns, but that's a long way off.

That used to be true but they started carrying guns awhile back.

I started looking and found this nice little piece of info:

"You are now six times more likely to be mugged in London than New York. Why? Because as common law appreciated, not only does an armed individual have the ability to protect himself or herself but criminals are less likely to attack them. They help keep the peace. A study found American burglars fear armed home-owners more than the police. As a result burglaries are much rarer and only 13% occur when people are at home, in contrast to 53% in England."

oh yeah? how long ago? I could've sworn they didn't have them when I was there in '03.

The brits are much more heavily armed after 9/11 and at least in 2004-2005, some of the police officers carried a pistol of some sort - often a Glock.  Most of the police officers I saw didn't, but the occasional one did.

Around areas like Downing Street, Picadilly Circus (sp?), and the Heathrow airport, the police (or some special unit of the police) carried submachine guns such as the HK MP5 and assault rifles such as the HK G36C (or some variant).  I wouldn't be surprised if the assault rifles were single shot only, though.

Anyway, how do you feel about guns?
Will you own one?  Do you own one?  Legislation?

Love guns and love to hunt!  I own ten, down from eighteen a few years ago when I had to start selling some to help fund my hunting cabin.   ;)

Favorite handgun is my Kimber CDP semi-auto in .45 ACP.  My favorite long gun is my Browning A-bolt in .30-06.  Took a nice buck with it in Alabama four years ago.
