I go to Vegas about twice a year.  I spend most of my time at Blackjack tables.  But here are some of my favorites:

The Venetian.  Check this place out.  The interior is big and beautiful, with the waterways and everything.

New York New York. The coaster is actually pretty damn good, so you might want to try that out if you get the chance.  Also, they have a great steak house (Gallagher's Steakhouse) and a good Itallian place (Il Fornaio). I go to at least one of these on every trip.

Belagio.  The water show outside is pretty cool, and only takes up a few minutes of your time.  I think it runs about every half hour.  Also, I was just in Vegas a month ago, and even though we stayed at the Luxor, we made our way over to the Belagio to try the buffet, which we had heard such great things about. I'm not a big buffet guy, because I can't eat that much food, but this one seriously rocked. It's about $26 per person.  Get there early because the lines get long.

Midnight Fantasy at the Luxor.  Great show.  I'm not a big fan of the the idea of paying to see womens' breasts, but I was talked into going last time (besides, at the time I was losing my ass at Blackjack).  I'm really glad I went.  It was actually a pretty kick-ass show.  There was only one guy in the whole show (a really talented black tap-dancer dude), and he was wearing a *&^%-eating grin on his face the whole time out there.  When you see the girls in this show, you'll understand why.

Hooray for Vegas!  I don't know where we're staying; it's a triple date trip, and one of the other couples planned it.  All I did was pack :)

Venetian and Bellagio are awesome.

Are you male or female?  And do you play poker?

If you play poker, Mirage has a pretty good poker room, good crowd and stuff.  Mandalay Bay has a poker room too, but I lost there, so I didn't like it as much as Mirage.  Ha ha.  Umm... Binion's is classic, since it's the current home of WSOP.  Bellagio has a poker room, but we don't play there.  I think it's because the limits are higher than we play, though it might be because it's so crowded.  Some of our friends think Palms is great for poker around 2 or 3 am because all the drunk people start playing and they don't know what they're doing in their drunkenness.  But another time, my friend WAS the drunk person, and without even looking at his cards, he was winning all the sober people's money.  So it could go either way...  I haven't been to Vegas since January, and I think a lot of new poker rooms opened up since then, but those are just the ones I know about.

If you're into clubs and stuff, Light (at Bellagio) and Ghost Bar (and something else, I think, in Palms) are supposed to be the best.  I don't drink, so I don't go to these places.

If it's not disgustingly hot, a walk down the strip should be fun.  It's awesome to see everything there for the first time.  It's an amazing city.

Have fun!!!  Hope you come back with law school application money ;)  Or law school tuition money, if you're especially lucky/talented.  :)

Ooh, there's this little casino (not a hotel/resort, just a casino) south of Venetian called O'Sheas.  We play blackjack there sometimes.  They have lower minimum bets (like $5 blackjack, compared with $10 at hotels during the day and $15-$20 at night) and really helpful dealers.  It's a more easygoing crowd, so if you don't really know what you're doing, you might feel more comfortable there in terms of asking the dealers what you should do and stuff.  Once you get the hang of it (and hopefully win some money), you can take your money over to a casino and feel a better about it.  That's how I was, at least...

Thanks for the info.. Male.. All my friends play poker.. Ive only been to a casino a few times, and that was in New Orleans.. Only really played black jack.. Not sure how much card playing I'll be doing though as I think Id rather place bets on the football games.. The $5 minimum table is good to know about though!

Hey, have you heard anything about the Hard Rock (which is where Im staying).. Its almost time to leave.. SWEET!!!!!  Get outta this hell hole they call The District of Columbia..

I haven't heard much about it and have never been.  Hope you have a great time, though!

Do you know how to play seven card stud, or just hold 'em?  I play stud in Vegas because it allows the same amount of money to last a lot longer than it would playing hold 'em.  Mirage and Mandalay both have $1-$5.  Not sure about the rest.

There's an awesome Korean BBQ restaurant on the East side of the strip.  I think it's across from Circus Circus.  It is the bomb (and I don't EVER say that).  Especially when you are drunk.
