Father or Dad

Which one should I use?  Dad may be too casual of a word, but father seems too detatched.  Also, should I use rehab or rehabilitation?  I'm thinking rehabilitation even though nobody ever says it out loud.

I tried to avoid slang in my personal statement, so I went with mother and father....but I think the tone of your PS should define the word you choose...if your ps is really laid back, then I would go with mom and dad, but if it is more serious I would definitely choose mother and father.

As fun in a Star Wars way that would be, SNUGGLE is most likely older than DOWNY.  SNUGGLE probably left DOWNY behind after a fling years ago.
