You want to know what I hate most about politics? People who are in it only for power and personal satisfaction. It happens on both sides of the aisle; and to me, these hedonists are the real enemy. Those who are actively subordinting the good of the people to their own egos and selfish desires. These are the people selling our nation down the river, and they're to be found in both parties.
Thankfully, not all people in the political world are like this. But what irks me is the polarization of politics in this nation. The people within a political partiy unite together as if they all have something in common. Well, in some ways they do; usually they agree on a certain set of issues. But I happen to feel that Republicans and Democrats of good will, who care about the people they serve and are not seduced by the trappings of power, have far more in common whether or not they agree on policy. It's when jackasses like this on the right AND on the left hijack the agenda that we should worry. Thankfully, these kind of people don't generally make the decisions... most of the people mentioned in the article were lobbyists and fundraisers, not actual decision-makers. It's sad that decision makers even listen to anything these people say, though. And many of them naively do. They think they're their "friends".
