UK (Kentucky)

Can anyone speak to the culture/attitude around UK (Kentucky)? I'm specifically wondering how "southern" of an attitude is prevalent on campus.

I'm not actually from lexington (for those who don't know, thats where the campus is).  But my parents just moved down there about 5-6 years ago and live about 25-30 min. out.  I've visited quite a few times a year.  Its a beautiful area, right by Rupp arena.  It has this huge, huge, I repeat huge beautiful fountain (you'll see why I felt this was worth mentioning).  Its also right by courthouses, major office buildings, and also bars and restaurants.  Personally, I want to stay in Ohio where I'm from just because of my boyfriend- but if I was able- I would love to attend. Lexington is a beautiful city with a lot to do.  Also, students come from all over the country to the school(excellent basketball team stirs up attention).  So I got the vibe that they weren't exactly sitting around doing line dancing all night.  Lexington is a more big city feel, it's not country.

I'm from KY, and lived in Lexington for several years, and visit frequently. It is probably one of my favorite cities, EVER! ... There's so much to do and see! The horse races at Keeneland are a blast, shopping is pretty decent, and you can't beat a UK basketball game (... no matter how well the season's going!) There's just something about it that makes it such a charming little big city!   ...And the "countryside" is beautiful.. with all the rows of white fences and horse pastures.. and barns that are nicer than the houses they stand next to! Haha..

I would LOVE to go to UK... but I've gotta work on that LSAT score.. lol

I went there for undergrad and really enjoyed the school and Lexington in general.  The law school is a bit outdated looking compared to the rest of the school, but apparently they are in the works to build a new one (I can't say when it will be done).  There are a decent amount of legal jobs in the area.  Louisville and Cincinnati are both within a 1.5 hour drive (Louisville market seems to hold UK grads higher than UofL law grads).  The cost of living is also very inexpensive.

UK would definitely be a great choice for LS (I chose a different school due to my desired practice location).

And if you have good #s, you should be set for a pretty good scholarship.  I know a lot of out-of-staters that got scholarships bumping them down to in-state.
