Albany Law of Union University...any thoughts?
« on: October 26, 2006, 03:50:48 PM »
Wondering if anyone has any thoughts or insight of Albany Law School of Union. They have high avg. grants, bar passage, employment at graduation %, and a lot of clinical opportunities. Has anyone heard different or anything else?

The school is absolutely fantastic if you want to get into NY state law, since its right near the capitol.  I know of quite a few 1Ls who had summer clerkships for the NY Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, which is fantastic experience for such a small school

Their new Dean has been doing great things for the school's revitalization.  I am impressed by the school and have a feeling it might really be considered much better some day in the future.  Their numbers on the front and back ends have improved, they are making the classes smaller, alumni donations are up and so things are looking great.

You guys are drinking deep from the Albany Kool Aid.  Law school rankings rarely change so I wouldn't expect Albany to bust out of the lower tiers anytime soon.

Their NALP #'s dont look too hot.  Only 31 employers go there for OCI.

Further, I love how on LSD people will say "If you have to go to a T4 school its not worth going at all".  Look where she worked before she went to Fox, Jones Day! and she came out of Albany...I bet she does not have any regrets.

My cousin went there and had some great opportunities upon graduation.  She's currently working as a chief clerk for a judge in NYC (not to be confused with clerking for a judge -- local judges in NYC have chief clerks who essentially act like Chief of Staff for a judge).
