Brooklyn asks for 2 academic letters, and then 2 character residents. Do we send letters for those 2 also? Or does Brooklyn contact them on their own?? ???

BK contacts them on their own.

I found it rather odd that BLS asked for character references.  FOr some reason they also ask for a Deans Letter when that's usually reserved for the top schools.  From my understanding BLS didn't contact either one of my character references so I think they only do so if they think you're shady or something

No you don't contact them. Just put down people who can speak well of you. I doubt they'll even call them.

Thanks.

One of my character references will be a former employer who actually also wrote an lor for me.

Question: Could I send the lor and still list this guy as a character reference, or should I hold that lor back and just use my 2 academic Lors? I know the employer LOR is a good one, altho might now be as well written as the academic lors.
