For example, in San Diego someday the white population may numerically no longer be a majority (may even be the case now, not sure). But whites hold more power (economic, social, political) than any other ethnic group, and certainly a majority. So, little changes. Also, non-white groups will still be underrepresented minorities in many industries because although they are represented in larger American culture, they are underrepresented in many middle- and upper-class industries and circles
