You take only four classes your first semester, right? Three of the "core" classes and Legal Writing?

How does that work out in terms of hours in class/studying time?

That's right...three core classes and legal writing.

The "core" classes meet either 3 or 4 times per week, and average about 4 hours of total class time per week.  The studying time, however, really varies by subject.  Some subjects require more study time, some require less.  On average, however, I'd say the prep time for each class is about 1.5-2 hours (this is just prep for the current day's class, and doesn't include reviewing, additional outlining, etc.).  So basically, your weekly study time for a class is roughly double your weekly class time.

This may sound daunting...but it really isn't that bad.  Boalt students still have plenty of time to be social.

How do you feel about the student body?  Are students more competitive or laid back?  Do students socialize outside of class?  Thanks.
