Letter question
« on: September 13, 2006, 06:15:32 AM »
I work at a law firm right now as a sort of paralegal intern. I was talking to an attorney the other day about applying to schools, and he offered to write me a recommendation. I wasn't fishing for a recommendation, and I'm not sure what he could say about me personally. I have done some work for him, though.

Should I follow up and ask him for the recommendation? I already have 3 from 2 professors and the dean of my college who knows me well. I'm leaning toward not asking him for it, as it would probably pale in comparison to my other 3. I'd love to hear some peoples' thoughts on it.

If he knows you well and can give concrete examples of your critical thinking skills, then take him up on his offer. If he's going to say, "Susie worked in my office for three months, was never late and smells nice," then don't.
