Dinged at UNC--3.36/165, out of state.  Not a big surprise, but its my first decision, so a little disappointing.

I had an identical day -

got dinged from Boalt, my #1.  No big surprise, I figured my chances were around 1%, but it still stung much more than I thought it would.          167/3.2.  So far, I'm 1 for 2, and haven't heard from 5 other schools.

I also got a rejection from Boalt yesterday.  I had almost no chance, but still sucks. They sent a letter.

I want to work in international human rights, too.  Where did you apply?

god, i applied to 16 schools.  ridiculous. i'm still waiting on boalt, columbia, uva, nyu, and american.  i'm expecting rejections from all but american (i'm hoping against hope for the public interest fellowship there).  i'm in at cornell, ut, hastings, usf, wisconson, temple, notre dame, gw, and waitlisted at georgetown and fordham (i asked to be dropped from their list).  so i basically have no idea.  do you have any background in the field or are you just diving in?  where do you hope to go?

My Berkeley ding came in a small white envelope, only one piece of paper enclosed - I knew what it was the moment I saw it.

So far, my record is:

In: U San Diego

Ding: Berkeley

Pending: American, Chicago-Kent, Notre Dame, Oregon and UCLA.

Yes, I do want to do international human rights law - I think a position with a group like Human Rights Watch would be ideal.  But, I'd also be very open to working with groups like Greenpeace.

My main background is in anti-war organizing, but I also have significant experience in photography, print journalism and filmmaking... so I could potentially bring some of that to a group like Human Rights Watch, which does a lot of photography etc. to back up its reporting.

I'm really hoping to get into UCLA's Public Interest and Law / Policy Program... and Chicago-Kent's Honors Scholars Program ($110,000 over 3 years) looks pretty good!

Any scholarship $$ for public interest from anyone yet?
