I got one from Cornell yesterday... AFTER their application deadline (it also extended the app deadline.)

I applied a few weeks ago, though.  Is it appropriate to email the admissions office and ask for a credit?  I wouldn't bother but I'm on a very tight income right now.

Totally appropriate.  Send a nice email and ask if they can provided a refund.

Yeah, it's completely ok.  I did it (not for Cornell, but whatevs) and there was no problem.
