What e-mail software do you use?
« on: August 02, 2006, 08:23:09 PM »
I'm used to manually logging into my hotmail/gmail/school accounts, but I'm sure there's a better way. I just don't know which route to go. My school reccomends Eudora or Outlook, and I'm leaning towards Outlook, but I was wondering what some of your thoughts are on this.

I'd recommend trying Thunderbird...the email client from the people that brought you Firefox

Your advice is usually precious wizard's gold, so I'll give it a go. Does Mozilla have any scheduling software that you know of? Can you reccomend anything other than Outlook?

Thunderbird supports Yahoo and Hotmail as much as Outlook or Outlook Express do.  If Yahoo or Hotmail allow it, you can use Thunderbird with any POP3 + SMTP or IMAP email service.  Normally, you provide the program with the email server's address, your username, and your password then it can check your email; the question is whether Yahoo and Hotmail allow you to have an email client check their email servers for messages.  I know Gmail allows you to use an outside email client but Hotmail or Yahoo might make you pay - maybe someone else knows the answer to that question.

Sort of...Sunbird's not too amazing but it may suit your needs:

It's definitely the ugly stepchild of Mozilla's Internet suite.

Google Calendar is actually pretty decent and worth a whirl.

I just switched from using Outlook Express on my computer to exclusively using the Gmail web platform (including the calendar).  I don't understand why anyone would go back.  Google is the greatest corporation of all time.

Maybe someone can explain this to me, then. Can I route my school's address and my hotmail account to my gmail account?
