LIVE WEBCAST...

On Tuesday, July 18, the Kaiser Family Foundation will host a live webcast of the forum, Paths to Success: A Forum on Young African-American Men. This forum - sponsored by Kaiser and The Washington Post - features Bill Cosby and a panel of national leaders, who will examine the experiences of young black men in America. The forum will discuss the results of a major new national survey conducted by The Washington Post, the Kaiser Family Foundation, and Harvard University.

WHO: The event will be moderated by Harvard Law School Professor and Foundation Trustee Charles J. Ogletree, Jr. Foundation CEO and former New Jersey Human Services Commissioner Drew Altman will provide opening remarks and highlight key findings from the survey. The forum will begin with a conversation with Bill Cosby followed by a panel discussion among national leaders and young people.

Panelists include:

Ras Baraka, high school vice principal and leader in gang intervention and prevention;
Joy Angela DeGruy-Leary, assistant professor at Portland State University and trainer and counselor for at-risk youth;
Ronald Dellums, former U.S. Congressman, Chair of the Joint Center's Dellums Commission on young men of color and mayor-elect of Oakland, CA;
James Forman, Jr., Professor of Law at Georgetown University;
Dion Haynes and Steven Holmes of The Washington Post;
Rev. Donald Isaac, Executive Director of the East of the River Clergy-Police-Community Partnership;
Jachin Leatherman, Ballou High School Valedictorian;
Wayne Nesbit, Ballou High School Salutatorian;
Eleanor Holmes Norton, U.S. Congresswoman;
Dr. Alvin Poussaint, Judge Baker Childrenís Center;
Eva Rousseau, former principal of Dunbar Senior High School in Washington, D.C.;
Faye Wattleton, President of the Center for the Advancement of Women; and
Corey Wiggins, doctoral student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and 2004 Barbara Jordan Health Policy Scholar.
WHAT: The discussion will focus on the results of the Post/Kaiser/Harvard survey and strategies to enable young black men to succeed in America today, building on themes presented in the Postís series, Being a Black Man.

Hey man its going great!!!  I left my job almost a month ago so I have been in serious "chill" mode.  I am taking a long break before our 1L saga begins.

I think I start the earliest out of everyone.  My orientation is Aug 7-11, and classes begin on Aug. 14. So I am kickin it hard!.

What are you up to this summer?

Working at DOJ in DC for the summer.  The job sucks but this city is a blast.
