If I am from Mexican decent and was born in the US can I put either mexican-american or hispanic (Since Mexicans are hispanic)? or is hispanic just anything thats not mexican? Is there any difference in benefit for being hispanic over mexican-american or the other way around?

Heh I deciding people are idiots who categorize us. They've made up so many categories it's hard to tell. I'm basque but my dad was born and grew up in Argentina, so I claim other (basque) but for the rest of my brothern I think Mexicans are "chicanos", all the rest of central and south america are latinos and hispanic are people from or directly decended from Spain. I think that's right, they even confuse me
