Unfortunately, if the news keeps on stroking the GOP machine as the have the last few days...the GOP will keep winning elections until its too late to stop the inevitable corrections that are dealt when the eagle is flying with 2 left or right wings. Think 1929 or 1979...perhaps it will happen in 2029.

That was when Carter was cooked from the FP meltdown.

Carter was cooked b/c he was a horrible president with horrible ideas.

One could say that about Bush in his second term...but some will say that a series of most unfortunate events after his mandate got him. Unless he can reach back to the center, he will not climb past the low 40s. (he was in the low 30s when the moderates and extremists of his base left him.) Hes about 38-40 since it has been awhile since his immigration debacle.

Like I said, he has to push to the center. No was around it...whether it is stem cells, the war, the social security or our non-human habitats. Independents just don't like 'em.

why does he have to do that?  he's not running again?  public opinion today means nothing to the legacy of a Presidency.  and what the hell does "non-human habitats" mean.

I doubt he will be known as the FDR or Kennedy of the right. Maybe not the Nixon II, but probably the Johnson of the right.
