But there are those who would argue that those 'by products' of invitro whatever are human life, etc.

So is there a distinction between the two political issues of abortion rights and stem cell research?

I think so.  I can see people being in favor of stem cell research but not abortion.  And maybe the vice versa if they're concerned about the slippery slope.  I personally am in favor of both and don't think that allowing stem cell research means we're going to start cloning humans.

How do I change my vote?  Since I've already voted, now the poll only shows results and no place to vote.  I only picked 3 options before, so I can still add "Getting rid of Bush."  And if JeffJoe agrees with my reasoning about stem cell research being a separate issue, I'll vote for that too.  But clearly my five choices are of varying importance.  "Getting rid of Bush" is number 1.

This guy at my new work married into the Bush family (his wife's mom is a Bush cousin).  He put a "W '04" sticker on his car, and within the first 24 hours, four separate cars on the road had rolled down their windows to cuss and yell at him and flip him off.  Ha ha ha!  Gotta love L.A. :)

When I set up the poll there was a check box to allow people to change their votes, but I wasn't able to change my vote either.  Maybe I goofed that part up.  I'll see what I can do.

I am in favor of expanding embryonic stem cell research funding, but from what I've heard the Dem's are really playing on people's emotions and may end up jerking around a lot of people with false hope.  While stem cell research is promising, the best results have been obtained using adult stem cells.  Embryonic stem cell research has not been showing many benefits, yet.

I can't comment on the bias of this source, but there are plenty more like it.

If this was as spectacularly promising as many Dem's would lead us to believe, there would be corporate funding pouring into it (and there has been more of late, but not on the same level as the hype) and government funding wouldn't be an issue.

While the capabilities to do more embryonic stem cell research should probably be funded by the gov't long-term, playing on people's emotions to make them think an instant cure is on the horizon is a bit shady.

I selected "party of the candidate"; however, I do not like how that sounds.  Typically, that would not be the most important factor by any means to me, yet, this time it is.   :-\

A lot of voters vote the party line.
