I am in favor of expanding embryonic stem cell research funding, but from what I've heard the Dem's are really playing on people's emotions and may end up jerking around a lot of people with false hope. While stem cell research is promising, the best results have been obtained using adult stem cells. Embryonic stem cell research has not been showing many benefits, yet.http://www.washtimes.com/national/20031228-114541-5034r.htm
I can't comment on the bias of this source, but there are plenty more like it.
If this was as spectacularly promising as many Dem's would lead us to believe, there would be corporate funding pouring into it (and there has been more of late, but not on the same level as the hype) and government funding wouldn't be an issue.
While the capabilities to do more embryonic stem cell research should probably be funded by the gov't long-term, playing on people's emotions to make them think an instant cure is on the horizon is a bit shady.
