1) Does URM stand for Under Represented Minority?

2) If it does, are there minorities that do not get preferential treatment for admissions?

3) Does an applicant need to show discrimination, or does simply being a minority greatly help admission chances in and by itself?

Which minorities do not get preferential treatment?

it depends on the region, but mostly asians.

hmm, do a search for AA or URM and you'll see a bunch of discussion on this topic.  my people are not URM because we're over-represented in every possible profession.

asians are discriminated all the time, its not an advantage to be asian because there are lots of asians with high stats so they do not need to try to get more.
