Since I just dropped $70 at MAC (always spend more than I intend to at that place)...
What are some of your fav beauty/skin care products?  Do you find some tend to meet 'black needs' more than others?

My favs are:
MAC - makeup. Especially, lipgloss, eyeliner, eyeshadow and funky coloured mascara
Cetaphil face wash
Rimmel mascara
Maybelline, Rimmel or VS Beauty mascara
Origins Out of Trouble Mask
Neutrogena Healthy Defense Moisturizer
Chapstick
Lots of water!

I'll like to add that I'd be lost without my Victoria Secret lip gloss.

I'm a huge fan of NARS color cosmetics. I think it suits women of color very well. I also like MAC, great for the basics, as well as Stila stuff. Other brands too - LORAC, Cargo, etc.

I'm particularly fond of false lashes...nothing like that doe eyed look, and I got cursed with puny Asian lashes. I also love, love, love blush.

I think a necessity is a professional brow shaping. I hate seeing sperm brows, porn star skinny brows, or unkempt brows.

I am a big fan of getting my brows threaded.  Unfortunately it's not always easy to find, even in big cities.

I never use blush, I'm afraid of having that bright-blush grandma look.  Plus I blush naturally (stupid pink cheeks).  Maybe I should branch out...

For hair I like Nexxus (Keraphixx, Humectress) and Neutrogena Triple Moisture.  I like some Keracare shampoos as well.  Oh and Redken (especially extreme antisnap and all soft heavy cream).

Lemme guess... you used to go to Hair Images behind the ChickFilA on N. Druid Hills...everyone goes there.

Blush is your friend!! You just hae to find the right shade and apply correctly. I was always scared of blush before too, but now I'm hooked.

Hair stuff - I love Kenra products. I am also telling myself NOT to start using Kerastase...my wallet just can't take it. But I keep hearing it's the *&^% so I know I'm going to cave.

Goodgal....don't tell me that!!! I don't need any more encouragement to spend $50+ on shampoo and conditioner.

Moni...what exactly did you get from MAC? I wanna hear about your haul :)

 :D

and that's not even the worst of it.  I ended up spending about $45 on some deep conditioning hair mask, and another $25 on some smoothing cream for after I blow dry. ridiculous.

I know. Let's spin off this thread into a fashion one too (hope Moni doesn't mind!)

What does everyone think of the skinny jeans trend? I caved and got some Express ones on sale...I don't think it'll last so I didn't want to get anything high end.

Of course!  One of the few places just around the corner from my school, so I was there all the time.  And don't even get me started on Loehmans (which my bf now hates with a passion).  :D

As for my MAC purchases, today was a lip day.  I got a chromeglass (kinda like lipglass, but a smooth almost metallic finish) in hot chrome (a coral pink), see through lip color (lip stain) in not so shy (a dark rose), and lipgelee (sheer lip gloss) in cellopink.  My lips look smokin!  :).  I also got pro lash colour in boston fern (green).  I had tried it on the last time I was at MAC, but got the blue one instead.  I love their product names, so much fun!
