yo swifty, i just got that montauk book today.  did you see the length of that one recommendation that he qualifies as stellar??  that *&^% would have been like six pages long, double-spaced.  i highly doubt more than a handful of all applicants have recs like that.

all of his examples are like this.  I find it pretty useless actually because who really is like the people he discribes in his examples.  His book still has plenty of good information though.

Anybody else care to share why they "feel" they will make a great attorney?  I appreciate limes ideas, but that won't impress this attorny much.  I need to dig deeper.  When I used to work for CPA's (including my father), I noticed a terrible trend.  CPA's and staff accountants such as me tended to talk to clients in tax language, and most clients left the office scratching their head.  You all have seen this, a doctor telling you what you have, what he is going to give you, and you just want simple English. Lawyers do this too, mostly to impress people just as Doctors do.

When I started my own tax practice, understanding the frustations people have dealing with professional stuff that they don't understand, I decided to make it a policy that no person will leave my office unless all their questions have been asnwered in a way THEY understand. I really was quite good at explaining complex tax laws to the average Joe/Joan.
And you know what, my reputation was built up on that trait which led to referrals and expanding my client base.

This is a skill and a qualification, that at least I think would make me a great lawyer.
If somebody calls me and does not understand something, I will always go the extra mile to make sure the client fully knows the law.  (this is dependant upon how my boss wants things done though).   This is the best I got so far.  I need more ideas.  The question is so tough because we really do not know how good an attorney we will be until we are practicing, and least that's why I am having trouble.  Please anybody, tell me why you would be a good lawyer.  You will be forever blessed by what ever god or doornob which you consider a higher power. 

Damn, nobody will read this, it's too long!  Oh well, I can only hope.

Actually, it did help.  Since I may go with environental law (still debating that with criminal law) I took two Economics courses, Environmental, and Energy.  So yes, I see how you used your letter to tell how you would be a "good" attorney, and only briefly mentioned a 
"good candidate for law school."  I have some more substance now.  Thoughts are already flowing.  Thanks....
