University of Texas - Only place I CAN go
Stanford - for my ego
Harvard  - to crush my ego

I might be able to accomodate that request.  I live in Austin, own a home here, and hubby has a job here, so UT is the best choice.  The other TX schools are based on the theory that he'll stay in Austin, and I'll live at the school M-F, commuting on the weekends to see him.  Not only inconvienent, but expensive, so the further the school is from Austin, the less likely I'll apply unless fee waivers come in.  The odds that I'll apply to Houston or SMU are only if I'm really insecure about my Baylor chances.

Pitt's on there because my sis lives there, so I could get free housing, but see hubby only after buying a $300 plane ticket.  Again, not the ideal situation.

Exact same reason I'm not applying to Baylor, UH, or Austin, because I can't really move from Dallas and I don't want to get an apartment and just come home on the weekends.  Thats no way to have a family.  Sounds like we are comrades :)  Best of luck to you on your admissions.

To my way of thinking not applying is less scary then applying and getting accepted and then having to common-sense withdraw it since I know I can't go.  Which is more tortuous, knowing 100% that I could go if my situation was different or making the safe assumption I wouldn't get in anyway?  :)

In order of ranking (and probably inverse probability of getting in)

Yale
Columbia
Penn
Virginia
Michigan
Berkley (maybe)
Duke
Cornell
Georgetown
UTexas
UCLA
USC
Vanderbilt
GW
Washington U(done)
W & L(done)
BYU
George Mason(done)
SMU(done)
Baylor(done)

Yes, I know that is TONS, but about half gave me a waiver and I just want to make sure I'm getting in somewhere good and that I (hopefully) have options

Does anyone else think how funny it is that so much of our fellow posters here are our competition and yet we help each other? It's a good world.
