didn't you know that every desi is at harvard or yale and is on the verge of PhD or MD?  desi parents suck.

now, my parents have been pretty cool about the whole thing, but I think they're getting sick of justifying my decision to the community.  (in fact, one of my diversity statements was about this whole thing)

I love the expectations of all of us becoming doctors.  I didn't care either, but it wasn't as bad in Utah as I thought it would be. My mom always wanted me to be a doctor but didn't care in the end as long as I get into areally good school (damn pressure). Honestly I don't even care about the "traditional" desi community. They are backstabbing bastards who have nothing better to do (keep in mind I am only referring to my community.)  Eh well I wonder how similar a pakistani community and an indian community is.

from my experience, they are exactly the same.  i mean, it was only 57 years ago that they were politically divided by the damn brits, so that isn't enough time to erase centuries of a certain mindset
