According to the US Census, White Hispanics constitute roughly 45% of the Hispanic population.  So...  whites are still 72-75% of the US population.  At one time, Irish and Italians were not considered white.  Now, they blend into the great American melting pot.

Not that it should matter, people should be judged by their character and ability, not their race.  There is no reason for whites to panic, the white population isn't shrinking, we're just getting more multicultural.

I don't want to start a whole thing here, zack, but the Irish have ALWAYS been considered white, they were just viewed as outsider whites in predominantly Protestant USA since they were Catholics. I get your point, but let's not go overboard here. Same (to anyone with any intelligence) with Italians.

I'd just like to take the oppornunity to reiterate that Americans are way too hung up on race when ethnicity is the classification of any value. When rednecks or any other half-brained Americanized white person (as an example) discriminates against white Cubans or white Argentinians or even white Mexicans (yes, they do exist), they are not showing off their racism, they are showing off their intolerance of a perceived ethnic group (as opposed to racial).

The real racists are the governments and politicians in Latin American countries.  They refuse to help the poor and Indian blooded people.  They support illegal immigration to the U.S. because it gets rid of poorer, uneducated and mostly Indian people (btw, they are poor and uneducated because the government refuses to provide all but the most basic services-like roads and such).  Additionally, but sending their poor to the U.S., the poor make and send BILLIONS of dollars in REMITTANCES back to their countries.  This money makes its way back into the system and eventually makes it into the pockets of the corrupt, racist leaders.  America isn't the problem.  Latin American governments are the problem.  They are the intolerant, bigoted, racist, corrupt scum.  No wonder one million people a year cross the border illegally.  What a sucky place Mexico and those other countries would be to live in if you were the "wrong color".

That's actually not totally true.  The Irish were likened to monkeys.  Wasn't just because of being Catholic.    I once saw an "evolutionary" chart which was meant to be offensive and was done at the time many Irish were coming over.  The chart had a Protestant English looking gentleman in a suit, ..., Irish man... then a black man, then a monkey.  There were cartoons where the Irish were drawn to resemble ape like features.
