From what I've been told and understand from the information on Cornell's web site, all of Cornell's scholarship aid is based at least partially on need or URM status.

well for one you can look at LSN.. and you see a few merit money winners who are not URM.. also at admit days they talked about not necessarily matching, but "considering" merit money from peer schools...

I'll be an evening student, working during the day. The cost between all three schools is about the same, but I decided that I'd rather keep myself from the insane debtload of going to school full-time.  :-\

i know right?? what gives and why are they misleading us? i mean i'd go if they caalled the day before classes, dont get me wrong but this has def been the worse wl situation i've been in by far (applied last cycle)

yeah, it's definitely odd.  several hundred people seems like way too many to have on a wait list at this point in the summer.

I think there may have been an earlier WL in addition to the initial reserve, so that may account for the "several" on the summer WL.  I know Northwestern cut down the WL of 800 or so to 300, so it seems like some schools just like to have gigantic waitlists just in case? Who knows.

what makes you say they may have had an earlier wl, or r you talking about deferred applicants from early action?
